Come with Wini on a Scenic Drive to Darlington, Maryland
Posted On: Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

Want to get away? I mean a-way! Take this drive to scenic Darlington and you will find another world... just up the road.

The Route:

From Rt 155 take Rt 161 North - drive about 4 miles.

On your left is Harmony Church - bearing left on Harmony Church Road will take you past Bonita Farm. Notice the gorgeous grape harvest in their 4 year old vineyard. Looks like a great year! Past Bonita, Harmony Church Rd is great for wildlife viewing. Along this road find cows close up and an Alpaca farm - Not something you see everyday. If you go straight on Rt 161 on the right before the bridge over Deer Creek you will see the Oreo Cookie Cows or the Belted Gallaway Cows (raised for beef).

Just over the bridge on the left is Wilson's Mill Orchard. What a special place! The historic mill is so picturesque - Thank you to the Holloway Family for letting us get a closer look.

Now to view the Bald Eagle Nest...Make a right on Price Rd. The rustic fencing, ponds, and sheep along this road will have you happily humming a John Denver tune . Go right on Stafford Road. Notice Mur Mur farm, on the right, another beautiful horse farm. Once you turn on Stafford look for the 5th driveway on the right and from the road you will see the nest and if you are lucky, you may get a rare glimpse of a national symbol. (Please enjoy the views from the road and respect private property rights.)

Set out on your own driving tour of Darlington... and make your own rare and unforgettable discoveries.
