Leaf buds have burst open and deciduous trees are once again clothed in their uniquely shaped leaves. Bring in some leaf samples and we'll teach you how to ID tree species, and take a hike to test your skills and learn other identification clues. Ages: Families, 6 - Adult

A celebration for parents and the kids! Parents will board the Water Strider near sunset to savor a full moon cruise, while the children enjoy Cinco de Mayo crafts and games at the Center. *Meet at Estuary Center Drop kids off at 6:30 p.m. Ages: Adults and kids

Meet at the Estuary Center and convoy to Susquehanna State Park in search of colorful warblers and other migratory birds. Bring your walking shoes and a camera or binoculars. Birds we may see include Northern Parula, American Redstart, Yellow Warbler, Red-eyed Vireo, Chipping Sparrow, Palm Warbler, plus eagles, osprey, and more. Ages: 14 - Adult

Treat mom to a relaxing cruise on the creek with tea and sandwiches. Look for wild animal moms with their babies. Return to shore to create a memento to remember the day. Ages: 30 lbs. - Adult

Hike the trails of Leight Park seeking out the elusive pink ladyslipper and other spring woodland wildflowers. Ages: All, under 8 w/adult

1st Annual Anita C. Leight Estuary Center Spring Bird Count The object of the day will be to count all the birds on the land, water and sky. This will include a bird count with Phil Powers (easy hike); BYO lunch at Pontoon Pier and then the bird count continues on the pontoon boat IMBD Pontoon Boat Trip 2:30 - 4:00 p.m. - Fee: $4/person - Ages: 30 lbs. - Adult International Migratory Bird Day Festival Time: 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. All ages Ongoing activities at the Center and around Leight Park. Pick up your IMBD passport and activity map at the Center desk. Bring the stamped passport back at the end of the day for participation prizes! Activities include Birdwalk Boardwalk Activity; Migration Game; Binocular use/practice; Audio Birds; Crafts; Fill-the-Bill; and a Perch Challenge.

Harford County seems to be experiencing explosive population growth - and not just with humans. So, we need your help to determine if the deer population of Leight Park is a healthy size. Join us and get the scoop on poop as we conduct pellet (deer scat) counts out on the trails to determine how many deer call us home. Ages: 16 - Adult

Enjoy an afternoon kayaking with your kids as we take a leisurely paddle around Otter Point Creek and learn about the marsh. We have both tandem and single kayaks.  Meet at Bosely Conservancy. Ages: 5 - Adult

Become a part of the volunteer team of invasive plant removers and native plant restorers. Learn why non-native invasive plants are a threat to our ecosystem, how to identify problem plants, and removal and restoration strategies. Wear sturdy shoes, long sleeves, and work gloves for field work in the Reserve each meeting date. Participants receive an “Invasinators” T shirt after attending two work days. Ages: 14 - Adult
